This course combines years of study, teaching, and hands on experience. I have been traveling to Women’s gatherings & events teaching and giving away free breast massage + education for the past 8 years with The Aerola.

The Areola was founded in 2005 by DeAnna Batdorff, my teacher and mentor as a grass-roots initiative to provide proper education and empower women around their breast, womb and lymphatic health.  The Areola is a passionate group of women committed to the path of empowering and educating women through body literacy on how to explore, map and understand the terrain of their reproductive systems & learn their symptoms and how to respond with holistic self care techniques. With thousands of women seen and supported this holistic care has provided an invaluable service to the Women in our community. In 2017, with DeAnna’s blessing, I brought The Areola to the Spirit Weavers Gathering, where it continues to be a centerpiece, supporting and educating hundreds of women each year.

I truly love sharing this work, it is one of my greatest passions.

I am very excited, after many years of requests, to finally be bringing this work to a supportive container in the online realm!

This intimate, in-person retreat is a deep dive into the body’s inner ocean; the lymphatic system. Through the lens of Ayurveda, elemental medicine and somatics, we’ll explore how breast tissue reflects our inner terrain — and how to support that terrain through intentional touch, nourishment, and care.

Together, we’ll create a container to reconnect with the wisdom of the breasts. Through guided lymphatic breast massage, holistic breast checks, foundational Ayurvedic teachings, hands-on medicine making and somatic movement practices, you’ll learn to understand imbalance not just as pathology — but as invitation. This retreat is a perfect blend of training and & self exploration.

What you’ll learn:

  • The physiology of the lymphatic system and its connection to immunity, hormones, and emotional wellbeing

  • The foundations of Ayurvedic elemental constitution and how it expresses in breast and lymph tissue

  • How to perform lymphatic breast massage and holistic breast checks — both for yourself and others

  • Nutritional and lifestyle tools to support tissue vitality and detoxification

  • Herbal protocols for breast and lymph support, including hand-crafted oils, breast balms & salt scrubs

  • The art of listening through your hands: how to read texture, tone, and subtle shifts in the tissues

Throughout the training, you’ll both give and receive lymphatic breast massage, hold space for other women, and refine your touch through direct experience and feedback. Each woman will complete a full hands-on session and assessment by the end of the retreat.

This retreat is open to anyone drawn to this work — you do not need to be a licensed practitioner. Whether you’re a midwife, doula, herbalist, nurse, lactation consultant, bodyworker, or simply a woman wanting to reconnect with her own body, this space is for you.

This is not a CEC-certified course, but it is a deeply embodied education in cyclical care and lymphatic wisdom — a foundation you’ll carry into your work, your practice, and your life.

You’ll leave with:

  • Practical skills in lymphatic breast massage and tissue assessment

  • A deeper understanding of your own elemental constitution

  • Herbal body care tools and a personalized self-care plan

  • The confidence to offer this care to clients, friends, and yourself

Come tend to the waters within.
Come remember what your hands already know.
Together we can uplift and support women in taking back agency over their health and vitality, one breast at a time.

The When & Where

Jul 28, 2024, 1:00 PM – Jul 29, 2024, 3:00 PM Zoom Class

The Story

Join Postpartum Practitioners Kearsley Schweller & Anja Robsinson for a deep dive into the animal body of a postpartum mother.  This is a class for *anyone* who wants to understand the physiological and energetic impact of birth. The wellbeing of our society as a whole is dependent upon the wellbeing of those birthing it. Come learn the foundational frameworks that can help you orient towards postpartum care with more confidence.  We will be getting into how the animal body of a mother changes during and after birth and what it means to provide full spectrum nourishment that is both an honoring of ancestral wisdom and relevant for the strange, beautiful and chaotic times we are living in.

Kearsley and Anja will be sharing their experiences as postpartum professionals and educators in this richly informative 2 hour class. They have over 20 years of combined training and knowledge in Ayurveda, Hormonal Health, Nutrition, Herbalism, and a life long apprenticeship to being in their bodies in the fullest way. Class will be recorded and available for folks who can not attend live.

Well explore a spectrum of ways to nourish the animal body after birth, including:

  • Impact on Body & Spirit

  • Postpartum Physiology

  • The Generational Imprint

  • Ayurveda in Postpartum

  • Threshold Work

  • Sensuality for the Animal Mother

  • The Body as God(dess)

  • The Nervous System & Hormones

  • Biological Nutrition

  • & so much more

This class is offered as a donation based event. This means you are invited to gift an amount that you can afford to with a suggested donation amount of $35-$55.

A guide for this is to choose the highest price point you can afford, acknowledging that those who can gift more are directly supporting both our work and the members of our community who live with a tighter budget.  All people are warmly welcomed to this class.
